What makes us different
Built on African marketplace principles. Open to the world.
Traditional African marketplaces were never purely commercial. They were community infrastructure — direct relationships, cultural exchange, collective ownership. Roouted is built on those principles and open to craft traditions from every region on earth. We began in West Africa and the diaspora because that is where our roots are deepest. Our door has always been global.
Artisans are co-owners
Every artisan member holds cooperative membership, profit share rights, and a governance vote — whether they join as a founding member or in year five. Ownership is not a founding perk. It is the model.
All craft traditions are welcome
Roouted is rooted in the Global South but open to every maker whose practice is shaped by cultural heritage — from Dakar to São Paulo to Seoul to Oaxaca.
Knowledge belongs to makers
Our technique library is artisan-authored and artisan-owned. You retain your IP. The platform licenses it from you — not the other way around.
Story is inside the transaction
Provenance, technique, cultural context, and the maker's voice live inside every listing — not as editorial add-ons, but as the product itself.
Price as conversation
Our make-an-offer mechanic reflects how craft markets actually work — pricing as dialogue, not fixed tags imposed by an intermediary.

Where we are building
Starting deep.
Growing everywhere.
Building deep in one community before expanding is how trust is earned. Every region that opens carries the same cooperative ownership, the same profit share, the same vote.
The cooperative model
You don't just sell here.
You own this.
Roouted is structured as a multi-stakeholder cooperative under Canadian cooperative law. Every artisan member — founding or otherwise — holds cooperative membership with profit share rights and a governance vote. This is not a feature reserved for early adopters. It is the structure of the platform itself.
Annual profit share — for every member
Platform surplus distributed to all active artisan members each year. Not just founders. Transparently calculated, fully documented, always.
One member, one vote
Governance rights regardless of when you joined or how much you sell. Artisan members elect board representatives and vote on strategic decisions.
Membership earned through participation
Every artisan who joins, lists work, and completes their first sale earns full cooperative membership — with all the ownership rights that entails.
Full financial transparency
Members see the real numbers — revenue, costs, surplus, and exactly how every distribution was calculated. No exceptions.
Asset lock — mission protected forever
No corporate acquisition, no public offering, no extraction — ever. Written into our legal structure from day one.
“Most platforms take from makers. Roouted is built so that when the platform wins, every maker wins — structurally, not just in spirit.”
Roouted founding principle
Founding cohort
20 spots.
Your name on the foundation.
We are recruiting 20 founding artisans from West Africa and the Canadian diaspora in furniture and ceramics — our first regional cohort. Not based there? Register your interest and we’ll reach out when your region opens.
This is not a vendor application. This is an invitation to co-build something that belongs to the people who make it.
Hand-crafted. Culturally rooted. Globally seen.
